Penn President Liz Magill Must Resign Immediately

Penn President Liz Magill Must Resign Immediately
The Issue
In a hearing before members of Congress, Liz Magill, president of the University of Pennsylvania, outrageously failed to condemn calls for genocide against the Jewish people as violating university policy. Instead, she claimed that calling for the mass murder of Jews depends “on context” to be classified as antisemitism by Penn’s administration.
Magill was joined by the presidents of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University to testify about surging Jew-hatred and harassment at America’s top institutions following the terrorist group Hamas’s horrific massacre against Israelis on October 7, the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust. While Israelis were burying the more than 1,200 innocent civilians who were slaughtered in their homes and at a peace festival in southern Israel, students at Penn chanted for an Intifada, referencing the mass murder of Jews.
Magil failed to issue a statement condemning these vile acts of bigotry against Jewish students on campus, even when it came to direct threats of their annihilation mere days after many of their loved ones were murdered or held hostage in Gaza.
This is unfortunately unsurprising considering Magill also failed to take action after several other antisemitic attacks occurred on campus, including Penn’s Hillel being broken into, the school’s Chabad being vandalized, a swastika being drawn on an academic building, and a rally praising Hamas for a “job well done,” in reference to the terrorist organization’s rape, torture, execution, and hostage-taking of Israelis and foreign nationals.
Enough is enough. We cannot stand idly by as the leaders of America’s most renowned academic institutions allow history’s darkest moments to repeat themselves before our eyes. Join us in demanding that Penn’s President Liz Magill immediately resign for her shameful disregard for the safety of Jewish students.
