Year 12 home rooms are common throughout schools in Adelaide. For those of you who are unaware of their purpose, common rooms function as an area for senior students to amalgamate, study, relax, enjoy warm beverages and bunker down during the winter season. The refectory, being a business and a frantic area does not suffice as a space for Year 12's to congregate and relax. 

Most of your parents will surely have fond memories of their high school's common rooms if you ask them. It seems unreasonable that a school of as high a calibre as Pembroke should not provide this kind of area for their senior students.

The large music room on the ground floor of Angove house seems an ideal candidate for a common room which could be organised within a matter of days. The only resources that would have to be required for this area would be comfortable seating (bean bags), a kettle and a microwave and these could easily be sourced by students. It seems reasonable to aim for the completion of this area by Term 2 of 2016.

Classes and tutorials in Angove house would be able to continue as per usual, only meaning that the room is unavailable during these few lessons. If there is any reason that might deem this room an inappropriate candidate, we would be happy to make some kind of compromise. Another of the numerous rooms on this campus certainly would be eligible to be altered for this purpose. 

This matter is just as relevant for Year 11's and the rest of the Pembroke cohort who would benefit equally from this area during their final year.
