Almost every day, I witness innocent, suffering animals crammed into trucks and carried to the slaughterhouse in a manner that is both torturous and heartbreaking. These animals endure immense suffering, confined in tight spaces without room to move or breathe comfortably.

Watching this scene unfold day after day has shown me just how much work we need to do to end animal abuse. It's not just the birds  on the trucks; it's the many animals around the world subjected to cruelty and inhumane treatment.

In 2017, Pei Wei made a public commitment to transition to 100% cage-free sourcing by 2025. This promise offered hope to countless individuals who care about the ethical treatment of animals and the impact of food production on our environment. However, it is concerning to learn that Pei Wei has not reported any progress towards this goal and has even removed the policy from their website.

The use of battery cages in poultry farming is widely recognized as harmful to animals, causing undue suffering and denying them their natural behaviors. As consumers, we believe that animals should be treated with respect and dignity, and that companies like Pei Wei have a responsibility to ensure ethical sourcing in their supply chains.

Therefore, I respectfully urge Pei Wei to honor their  promise and transition to 100% cage-free sourcing by 2025. Transparency and accountability are essential to building trust with customers, and we request that they provide regular updates on your progress towards this important goal.

By keeping their  promise, Pei Wei can keep up with their competitors who are leading the way in setting a higher standard for animal welfare and ethical sourcing in the industry. This change will not only align with the values of many of their customers but also enhance the company's reputation as a responsible and conscientious business.
