The pearl high school dress code is directly attacking and sexualizing our female and AFAB youth. Not even allowing them to wear plain white tshirts to school. Students have been sent home for wearing shirts that completely cover their stomach, simply because when they raise their hands it shows their stomachs slightly. The female student body is constantly being sent home and written up for minor dress code violations. This is directly hindering their ability to get a proper education. The male student body has constantly stated that the way a female or AFAB student dresses does not distract or hinder their ability to learn. The younger generation is being held to the standards and comfortability of the older generation. These students have a RIGHT to be able to learn. States with less strict dress codes are rank significantly higher in education than Mississippi is. 30+ years ago (when women typically covered their entire body) the male students would be distracted by the way women dress, However this is the 21st century when crop tops, and shorts are a common outfit to be seen in public and in the media. The only men distracted by the way these women dress are adult males. The same adult males who are teaching our youth. The dress code caters to the teachers, not the students. Please help our female youth to get the education they deserve.
