Peace Valley Charter School Board voted for a school-wide transition to remote learning starting 11/18/2020. It was a special meeting held without the teachers and administrators input. One of the many benefits of our independent charter school is that we are able to make decisions that reflect our Waldorf philosophy. It is imperative that PVCS teachers and administrators are the leaders in the decision-making process. This ensures that decisions reflect the Waldorf way of learning.

We all support the health and well-being of our community. However, there is no current direct evidence to warrant the decision to make all students remote learners. The school leadership has done an outstanding job implementing a remote option for families who seek an alternative to in-person learning. Every family has the option to choose remote or in-person learning at any time throughout the school year.

This petition calls for the following:

1.     Regarding the agenda for Monday's meeting on 11/16/2020, we request the Peace Valley Charter School Board to add an action item topic regarding their vote to transition all students to remote learning on 11/18/2020. This allows for public discussion, commenting, and hopefully a re-vote.

2.     Withdraw the Peace Valley Charter School Board's decision for all students to move to remote learning on 11/18/2020.

3.     Continue the option for in-person learning, following the current calendar schedule.

4.     Any future decisions regarding Peace Valley Charter School shall be led by teachers and administration, with consideration to the voice of all parents.
