Through recent times pre and post pandemic, care staff in all sectors private and public have worked tirelessly for their patients and clients/service users. The pay isn’t the main objective, it’s about showing appreciation and respect for the ones who have kept us and our loved ones safe or been at their sides in times of heartbreak and loss. The cost of living is rising by 10% but the government mock us with a 5% payrise, where is the respect and thanks for the work we’ve all done. A show of gratitude all we ask and well deserved by all.
without the dedicated caring staff our society would crumble. Carers in homes work for minimum wage, zero contract hours are a joke, and staff who see clients in their own homes don’t get paid for their travel time, only the time they spend with the client. No wonder the care community is short staffed, who would work for pennies and no respect.

there is no incentive for new generations of carers and nurses to join and safeguard the communities we live in. Wards will close, care homes will go out of business and both will end up working in unsafe conditions with patient to staff ratios being unrealistic and put lives at risk. 

better pay for carers would attract good and dedicated staff to look after our sick and vulnerable.
