Pay California Disabled Veterans at 100 Percent if they reside in Los Angeles

Pay California Disabled Veterans at 100 Percent if they reside in Los Angeles
The Issue
Petition to the City of Los Angeles
Calling for 100% Veteran Affairs Disability Payment Rates for All California Veterans with Disabilities
To:
The Honorable Mayor and City Council of Los Angeles
Whereas:
• Veterans with disabilities, having served our nation honorably, continue to face hardships including inadequate private housing and limited access to appropriate care, especially those suffering from PTSD;
• Many Veterans are unable to secure private housing that meets their needs, which further compounds their struggle to obtain quality healthcare and a stable living environment;
• Providing 100% of the Veteran Affairs (VA) disability payment rates to all California Veterans with disabilities residing in Los Angeles would not only offer them a dignified, safe, and stable home but also serve as a symbol of our city’s deep respect and compassion for those who have sacrificed for our country;
Whereas:
• This measure will generate increased revenue for local Los Angeles businesses by expanding the customer base and stimulating local economic activity as Veterans invest in goods, services, and community development;
• The influx of Veterans from across the country seeking residence in Los Angeles would strengthen the economy by increasing consumer spending, creating new opportunities for local enterprises, and fostering the development of generational wealth among those who have long been underserved;
• With a surplus from our county’s solar energy program—backed by contracts with other states—and savings from reduced operational costs by distancing from exploitative electric companies, the funding necessary for this initiative is both sustainable and forward-thinking;
Whereas:
• A policy guaranteeing 100% VA disability payments would be an enduring gesture of gratitude and support for our nation’s heroes, helping them overcome the challenges of poverty, oppression, and bureaucratic neglect;
• Enabling Veterans to have secure housing will allow them to focus on their health, well-being, and continued contributions to American interests in sectors such as technology and entertainment;
• This initiative embodies our collective commitment to ensuring that the sacrifices made by our Veterans are honored through tangible benefits, and it sets a precedent for compassionate governance that uplifts all residents;
We, the undersigned, respectfully petition the City of Los Angeles to:
1. Declare and enact a resolution ensuring that all California Veterans with disabilities residing in Los Angeles receive 100% of the Veteran Affairs disability payment rates;
2. Allocate funding for this initiative from the county’s surplus generated by its solar energy resources and the economic efficiencies gained from competitive local business operations;
3. Implement supportive measures to assist Veterans in accessing quality healthcare, stable housing, and employment opportunities within Los Angeles;
4. Promote a citywide campaign that celebrates the contributions of our Veterans and encourages their integration into the social and economic fabric of Los Angeles.
By adopting this petition, Los Angeles will not only provide a better quality of life for our disabled Veterans but also invigorate our local economy, fortify our community values, and set a national example of how cities can honor and empower those who have served our country.
