Redevelop the "YMCA of Salem County/RECA" Facility

The Issue

The Current Facility Owned by the Carneys Point Township at 204 Shell Rd. Penns Grove, New Jersey and Operated by the Rivers Edge Community Alliance has been falling apart for decades. Because flooding issues have been left unresolved for decades, the community center has become virtually inoperable. We the residents of Penns Grove, Carneys Point and Salem County as a whole DEMAND that the Carneys Point Township help pave the way towards the redevelopment of the facility. Residents need a center that they can resort to for recreational, social, and cultural engagement. Redeveloping the facility would (a) raise the value of real estate for homeowners, (b) make the area much more attractive for businesses and families to want to come settle, (c) drastically reduce crime levels in CP-PG and optimize public safety, (d) foster dialogue between residents and other institutions (e) help incubate the dreams and passions of aspiring artists, future entrepreneurs, thinkers and developers (f) drastically prevent a myriad of chronic health conditions that residents endure AND further options health and wellness (g) create a sustainable Ratable for the township While it is a far easier and tempting prospect to simply auction the building to a commercialized developer - as custodians of this township and as our public servants, we believe it is in fact your duty to pave the way towards realizing a center that would optimize our health and wellness, reduce crime, increase cultural and artistic development, foster education and dialogue and help incubate the Development and Prosperity of these Rivers Edge Communities.

Please Help US Realize this Dream.
