As a long-time resident and a parent whose children have been playing soccer at Caven Point Sports Complex for years, I am saddened to see the lack of attention given to the state of our local facilities, particularly the parking lot. Over time, the parking lot has been neglected and is now a glaring issue. Our parking lot is nothing more than a dirt field with craters, abandoned trailers, and even discarded mattresses. More than often, the area becomes chaotic, with cars blocking each other in due to lack of organized, well marked parking spaces. Even the entrance only allows for a single car to enter or exit at any given time, causing unnecessary delays and possible safety concerns.

Furthermore, having experienced first-hand the perfectly maintained facilities and parking lots in other towns during my daughter’s travel league matches, I find the current state of our parking lot disheartening. It’s disappointing that this poorly kept lot is a representation of our city to visitors from other areas.

It's time to invest in a change. A city as great as ours deserves a quality sports complex, starting with a properly paved and maintained parking lot. Paving the parking lot and maintaining it regularly would not only enhance the aesthetics of our sports complex but also improve safety for all that use the facilities. We need to ensure that our facilities and sports complexes are up to standard, thereby reflecting the pride we take in our community.
