Pause town hall site improvements in Brighton

The Issue

For the past two years, the Town of Brighton has been quietly planning significant site improvements at the Town Hall, including additional parking spaces at the expense of mature trees that many of us cherish. This decision has been made without a transparent process, forsaking much-needed public conversation. The community had no idea such drastic changes were underway!

One glaring issue with these plans is the lack of integration with nearby recreational areas critical to our community's well-being. The playground, pool, and splash pad are central to our community life, yet there is no clear strategy to connect or enhance these areas in the proposed plan. Instead, there is a concerning prioritization of vehicular traffic, potentially increasing hazards for pedestrians, especially our children.

To move forward with such significant changes without thorough community involvement is both hypocritical and dismissive of our rights as residents to participate in these decisions. The mere focus on expanding parking sends a troubling message about our town's values—prioritizing asphalt and cars over nature and people.

We demand a pause to all site improvements at the Town Hall. The Town of Brighton must engage with its residents by initiating a meaningful dialogue that includes public input at every planning stage. We believe that an inclusive design process will result in a Town Hall we can all take pride in—a space that balances development with the preservation of our cherished green spaces.

Join us in urging the Town of Brighton to rethink their approach and commit to a revised plan that reflects the collective voice of its community. Sign this petition to call for a comprehensive and transparent planning process that truly embodies the values of inclusivity and environmental stewardship. Make your voice heard today!
