Pause the DG Farms Assessment Increase
The Issue
We, the homeowners of the DG Farms Community Development District (CDD), respectfully request that the Board of Supervisors delay or reject the proposed Fiscal Year 2026–2027 Operations & Maintenance (O&M) assessment increase until homeowners receive complete financial transparency and a meaningful opportunity to review the proposed budget.
Our community understands that maintaining roads, landscaping, stormwater systems, and other community infrastructure requires funding. However, many homeowners are already facing significant financial pressures from rising property taxes, homeowners insurance, utilities, and everyday living expenses.
Before approving an increase, we ask the Board to provide:
A detailed line-by-line comparison of the current and proposed O&M budgets.
A clear explanation of every expense contributing to the increase.
Copies of contracts or obligations that justify higher costs.
An explanation of cost-saving measures considered before proposing higher assessments.
A description of the specific improvements or services homeowners will receive.
Sufficient time for residents to review the financial information before any vote is taken.
Chapter 190, Florida Statutes, governs Community Development Districts and requires public hearings before assessments are adopted. We believe these hearings should provide homeowners with a meaningful opportunity to review information, ask questions, and participate in decisions that directly affect their finances.
This petition is not opposed to maintaining our community. We support responsible maintenance and investment in DG Farms. We are asking for transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility before additional financial burdens are placed on homeowners.
We respectfully request that the Board:
Postpone the proposed assessment increase until residents have adequate time to review the supporting financial information.
Provide complete budget transparency.
Consider alternatives that minimize the financial impact on homeowners.
Carefully consider the concerns of the residents who fund the District.
Together, we can ensure that decisions affecting our community are made openly, responsibly, and with homeowner input.
