Pause the $175 Billion Golden Dome—Prioritize Urgent Needs First

The Issue

The United States is facing critical challenges here at home—from an affordable housing crisis to aging infrastructure, from rising healthcare costs to underfunded public schools. Yet the federal government is now preparing to commit at least $175 billion to a new missile defense system, the “Golden Dome,” without a clear timeline, cost accountability, or demonstrated need.

While national defense is important, so is fiscal responsibility and a balanced sense of urgency. Independent experts have noted that the U.S. is not currently under a significant missile threat from its neighbors, and the Pentagon has yet to explain how this new system will integrate with existing defense programs—or what trade-offs will be required.

This isn’t about rejecting innovation; it’s about making sure we get our priorities right. Before we commit to one of the most expensive defense projects in decades, we deserve answers, oversight, and a national conversation about where our money is most needed.

Sign this petition to ask Congress to pause the Golden Dome program until real public needs are addressed and a full, transparent plan is provided.
