Stop killing squirrels in Kit Carson Park

Stop killing squirrels in Kit Carson Park
The Issue
Yesterday, while walking in Kit Carson Park I witnessed a city employee stick a hose into a squirrel's burrow. The employee then returned to their golf cart, pushed a button, and an explosion went off in the hole. It was blown up, and likely the ground squirrel along with it. This is unnecessary destruction of the animals' homes and harm that does not need to be inflicted.
The squirrels in Kit Carson Park do not deserve to have such violent and harmful methods used against them. I am calling on the citizens of Escondido, and animal lovers everywhere, to ask mayor Paul McNamara and the city council to stop killing the animals in this way.
My hope is for the animals to be left in peace. They should not have violent methods used against them. I am calling on the city to allow the animals to continue living in the park. Or, in absolute necessity, natural methods should be adopted.
Please sign and share this petition if you are an animal lover who wants to see better treatment for the animals in this park. Thank you!
