We, the residents of Johnston County, publically support CSX’s efforts to build the Carolina Connector (“CCX”) intermodal terminal in Johnston County.  Although we would ideally like for the CCX to be located on land that CSX can acquire from willing sellers, should such acquisitions not be feasible or possible, we recognize that it is sometimes necessary for private condemners, including railroads, to acquire land for the benefit and use of the public under North Carolina law, provided just compensation is paid to landowners for the fair market value of any affected property.  We recognize that many complexities surround a project of this magnitude and scope, and are committed to working through the process for the greater good of Eastern North Carolina, generally, and our Johnston County community, specifically.
