Winter Jones was a beautiful, vibrant, six-year-old girl whose life was tragically cut short on August 13th, 2026. Born with autism and being nonverbal, Winter was full of life and love. On that fateful day, she was left unattended for over six hours inside a hot daycare bus. It happened in Cordova, Tennessee, where temperatures reached a sweltering 97 degrees. Kid's University, located at 771 Walnut Knoll Lane, was supposed to safely transport her to school. Instead, she never made it off that bus. Winter was found unresponsive that afternoon, and our hearts remain heavy with grief.

Winter's story should never be forgotten. We must act now to ensure that no other child endures such a preventable tragedy. This is why we are calling for "Winter's Law," a mandate for stringent safety checks on all child transport vehicles in Tennessee. It is essential that these checks are rigorously enforced, ensuring every vehicle is thoroughly inspected before and after each trip, every single time.

We can't bear the thought of losing more precious lives. The bus driver, regardless of the circumstances, failed in his duty to protect and account for Winter's safety.
