Pass the Sgt. Kevin Lee Lloyd No Veteran Left Behind Act Now
The Issue
Please sign this petition so we can bring the Sergeant Kevin Lee Lloyd No Veteran Left Behind Act before Congress.
Stand the line with me.
Sgt. Kevin Lee Lloyd served nine years with 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines out of Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.
He was poisoned by burn pits during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom — and he endured years of suffering, delays, and bureaucratic failures that ultimately cost him his life.
I need your signature to make sure this never happens to another veteran or their family.
Kevin is not an outlier — he is a warning.
Specialist Stephen Munkachy died on May 19, 2025 from the same 100% service-connected toxic exposure illness.
His cancer progressed so fast that he died two weeks before his one-year wedding anniversary, and his widow was denied all survivor benefits because of an outdated rule that punishes families when toxic exposure kills too quickly.
Two branches.
Two wars.
Two families.
The same unbearable suffering and abandonment.
For 141 days, Kevin begged for help that never came.
We pleaded for referrals, benefits, recognition, and basic support.
Instead, he was met with silence, delays, and denial.
Kevin didn’t simply die from cancer.
He died because the systems meant to protect him ignored him until it was too late.
On November 9, 2025 — the eve of the 250th Marine Corps Birthday — Kevin died from a preventable, service-connected toxic-exposure injury.
Even from his deathbed, Kevin continued advocating for other veterans. His final wish was simple:
“Make sure what happened to me never happens to another veteran or their family.”
I promised him I would finish that mission.
But I cannot do it without help.
WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM MUST NEVER BE REPEATED
• He was denied critical medical referrals for years, allowing his illness to spread unchecked.
• His military record-correction paperwork was lost, delaying recognition of his combat-related injury.
• We were pushed again and again toward hospice or a VA nursing home, even while he fought for treatment.
• He was refused a casualty officer, leaving us completely alone as his condition worsened.
• He was denied the autopsy he explicitly requested, his documented wishes ignored, nearly erasing the truth about what killed him.
These were not minor mistakes.
They were preventable failures — and they were deadly.
WHAT THE SERGEANT KEVIN LEE LLOYD NO VETERAN LEFT BEHIND ACT WILL DO
• Guarantee immediate, specialized medical care for veterans poisoned by burn pits.
• Recognize toxic-exposure deaths as combat-related and provide full honors.
• Fully fund autopsies, toxicology, funerals, transportation, and burial services for toxic-exposure deaths.
• Correct military records quickly and accurately, especially for terminal veterans.
• Protect families by eliminating harmful rules, including the one-year marriage requirement.
• Allow families to report toxic-exposure deaths when veterans are too sick to do it themselves.
• Prevent VA delays and denials from blocking lifesaving care ever again.
• Place more veterans in leadership roles across the VA, DoD, and federal agencies — because those who have borne the battle understand the battlefield, and veterans must be empowered to lead the systems that serve veterans.
Kevin fought for this until his last breath.
Now I am carrying his mission forward.
Please sign and share this petition.
Help honor Kevin’s dying wish.
Help protect the next veteran and their family.
Stand the line with me.
No veteran should ever be forced to die in the dark again.
