Pass the 13 Laws That Protect California Workers and Families — The ONE ROOF ACT

The Issue

Right now in California, you can be screened out of a job by an algorithm before a human ever sees your name. You can apply to a job that doesn't exist. You can survive five interviews and never hear back. You can be laid off the week before your stock vests. You can be handed a PIP the day after you speak up. And when it's all over — no law connects your last paycheck to your front door.

I am LaTasha Richardson, J.D. — a Navy veteran, healthcare compliance executive, and Executive Director of RichEd 501(c)(3). I spent three years building 13 proposed laws and submitting them to the California Law Revision Commission before posting a single thing publicly. Because the record had to exist before the attention.

These 13 laws close the pipeline from job loss to foreclosure. They protect multigenerational families, workers displaced by AI, and every person the current system was designed to overlook.

Sign this petition to tell the California Legislature and the Law Revision Commission: we see the pipeline. We name it. And we are demanding that California close it.

The law was written for a family that no longer exists.

Ghost jobs flood the market — companies posting positions they never intend to fill, harvesting your resume, benchmarking your salary, and collecting unpaid case study work from candidates who will never be hired.

Algorithms reject 70-75% of qualified applicants before a human ever sees their name. The systems are trained on decades of exclusion. They deliver discrimination at scale — invisible, unaccountable, and growing.

One layoff triggers a pipeline: termination letter, mortgage calls, foreclosure notice, bankruptcy. Workers who did everything right lose everything in 90 days. No law connects the dots. No law interrupts the pipeline.

Multigenerational families spend years contributing to a home — and inherit nothing when a parent passes, because no law recognizes their equity. Any estranged relative can force a sale. The family loses everything.

WE ARE ASKING CALIFORNIA TO PASS THESE 13 LAWS:

  • Multigenerational Housing Protection Act — protects family equity, prevents forced sales
  • Professional Pluralism Protection Act — protects your right to hold multiple jobs
  • ATS Accountability Act — requires audit when algorithms screen your resume
  • LinkedIn Surveillance Protection Act — bans employer surveillance before you apply
  • Ghost Job & Wage Extraction Act — makes fake listings and unpaid interview work illegal
  • RTO Fraud & Worker Stability Act — protects workers forced to relocate by RTO reversals
  • Job Candidate Interview Protection Act — requires compensation for extracted work
  • AI Meeting Surveillance Protection Act — requires consent before AI scores your words
  • 401k Emergency Protection Act — waives the survival penalty when you're laid off
  • Worker Health Portability Act — closes the healthcare gap between jobs
  • Portable Retirement Pool Act — retirement that follows you, not your employer
  • Worker Equity Protection Act — stops employers firing you before your stock vests
  • Worker Integrity Act — stops manufactured PIPs used to force workers out
