Pass SOGIE Bill, LGBTQIA+ are also human rights
The Issue
The Philippines is a very conservative country when it comes to culture and the old ways. Religion has been a major influnce in the government and the people, It is a factor in why the bill is not yet passed in the congress. Our country, the Philippines should recognize the LGBTQ+ community as an equal citizen like the heterosexuals and give them equal rights, opportunities and freedom in the society, the LGBTQ+ community doesn't deserve a society that is full of hatred, prejudice and discrimination.
The LGBTQIA+ people are generally affected in their whole being as a human being, the disrespect, prejudice, discrimination and inequality treatment to the people who are part of the LGBTQ+ members here in the Philippines is really a big issue that needs to be addressed effectively, The people has been in this fight for years, even decades just to get the right and just treatment in this society. The LGBTQ+ people are experiencing mental, physical, emotional issues and abuses, problems and uneven opportunities are the circumstances that experienced by the members of the LGBTQ+ because of the discrimination and violence towards one's sex, gender, age, class, status, disability, religion, and political belief.
Not just every homosexual is at stake in this matter but also the heterosexuals are also affected by this bill. The SOGIE bill doesn't mainly focus on the welfare of homosexuals but also it is partially connected to the rights of heterosexuals' well being. If this bill is passed in the senate and becomes an effective law a new environment in the society will be introduced, especially to the lives of the members of the LGBTQ+ community who experienced generations of discrimination, prejudice, disrespect and belittlement. In this bill rights of people who hadn't been protected and given priority will be given protectionand and the well being of each will be understood by every one in the society.
Why is now the time to act?
This is the right time to start because it's now or never. Because it will show our love and support for the LGBTQ community, it means that they are valid and accepted by society. It is now time to act, to pass and implement the bill, for many people are at stake in this matter. LGBTQ+ members will feel much more safer and relieved in the protection. The suffering of the members of the LGBTQ+ community, the decades and generations of suffering is enough, we have been protesting this bi to be passed in the Philippine government for years already, yet the old toxic detained culture is still dominant and rules the minds of the majority. We have to make this society civilized and liberated, let's not use religion to justify our prejudice towards homosexuality, love doesn't harm nor degrade anything or anyone, no matter what.
If that law can't be implemented now when? when it's too late? When there are many people whose minds are closed for this kind of law, it would be better if this law could be implemented immediately for the knowledge of other people. Let's end the stigma in our generation, for the generations to come.
