North Carolina HB 478 and SB 452 seek to amend the State Personnel Act to protect and provide relief from discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity for state workers. Passing this legislation is crucial to advancing future non-discrimination laws that can protect ALL North Carolina citizens from discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations, and other areas. Currently in North Carolina, it is legally permissible to discriminate against someone because of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
