Friends,
Jayden’s Law (SB 138) has now been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee. This is an important step in the legislative process. Judiciary is where bills are carefully reviewed, questioned, debated, and potentially amended.
I have already communicated my concerns directly to the bill sponsor regarding provisions that were not included in the filed version. Those conversations have been respectful and ongoing.
It’s important to understand that filing a bill is not the final version of the law. Committee review is often where language is refined and strengthened.
My focus remains the same as it has always been: ensuring that Kentucky law fully protects all children and closes the gaps that have allowed serious harm to occur.
For now, the most important thing is that SB 138 is alive, moving, and being taken seriously.
I will continue working through the process and will update you when there are clear next steps or opportunities for public involvement.
Thank you for staying engaged.
