The Issue

Pass Aubrey’s Law: Every Child Deserves Equal Protection

On August 15, 2025, 10-year-old Aubrey Coffey lost her life after being left in a vehicle for several hours. Her death shocked Delaware County and sparked difficult conversations about accountability, transparency, and the laws that exist to protect children.

This petition is not about revenge. It is about making sure no child’s death is overlooked and that every case receives the highest level of review, regardless of who is involved.

We are calling on Indiana lawmakers to pass “Aubrey’s Law,” legislation that would require an independent criminal review whenever a child dies after being left unattended in a vehicle and ensure that all families are treated equally under the law.

No parent should ever experience this type of loss, and no community should be left wondering whether justice was fully served.

We ask lawmakers to:
• Strengthen Indiana laws regarding children left unattended in vehicles.
• Require independent review of all child vehicle death cases.
• Increase transparency when prosecutors decline criminal charges.
• Ensure equal application of the law regardless of occupation or status.

Aubrey mattered. Her life mattered. Let her legacy be a law that protects children across Indiana for generations to come.

Sign and share to support Aubrey’s Law.
