DEMAND RESPECT!!!!! WE ARE HUMAN!!!! WE ARE THE PEOPLE!!!! YES THATS US!!!!!
The Issue
My name is Krystal Catia. I have lived in Pasco County for the past seven years, I have had multiple racial experiences with the city, county and even some of the residents.
The city is listed on YouTube as one of the worst cities to live in, the county has also received negative reviews. People are relocating to this area due to the affordability, but have no idea what it is like to live here on a daily basis for an African-American family.
The Sherriff's office does nothing outside of cleaning up drugs in the community, no matter how many times you go on record to report disturbances no one comes out to see what is actually happening.
My husband and I have built multiple businesses within the county and in the city limits, we are having issues getting our neighbor to stop calling in false complaints against us.
Code enforcement has come out to our home multiple times, a building inspector stated that we needed a permit for our shed, when a permit had already been issued.
We have a reoccurring issue with out next door neighbor regarding our fence, she consistently states that it is in violation although we've had a Geo point survey conducted to ensure that we are not in violation. It has gotten to the point where negative and obscene words are being thrown around by said neighbor, yet nothing is being done about it.
We have a son with disabilities and despite our pleas, this neighbor continues to yell and scream obscenities so we are calling for global attention. I believe that this issue not being handled is racist in nature. We have some great neighbors that are willing to step in and help but there are others that have chosen to remain silent and those that feel the same way the menacing neighbor does.
We are a hard working, law abiding family, we have the right to live where we please. We are homeowners, we are business owners and parents. Our tax dollars funnel resources into the very community that we are being ostracized from. We are a young couple, working to make a way for our family. We have added value to this community by beautifying our property with paint, updates and plant life. Our contribution to our own American dream, but we cannot enjoy the fruits of our labor because every time an accusation is made we are forced to take off of work to atone for it.
Pasco County claimed that if my husband did not show up to court for a $75 violation that they would issue a warrant for his arrest, violations are not supposed to be handled in that manner. This has been an ongoing issue for over 3 years and we have grown tired.
I am a color, my neighbor is a color, we both bleed red, each of us needing to co-exist, there is no logical reason for this. We would like the freedom to live in our home, free from malicious complaints and we need your help. Please tell Pasco County to cite our neighbor for wasting tax payer resources and implement and or enforce regulations that would prohibit the repeat filing of unfounded complaints.
