Partial Quiet Zone Hours for Railroad Crossing 350164F - Williams Ave, Madison TN

The Issue

As a resident of Williams Station, a vibrant neighborhood located in Madison, Nashville. Our community is deeply affected by the constant noise from trains that pass through our area. We were not adequately informed about the frequency of these trains during the purchase of our homes. The incessant blaring horns throughout the night have become a significant disturbance to our peace and quiet.

The situation worsens as these trains often stop and block crossings, causing inconvenience to residents and local establishments alike. This issue is not only affecting our sleep patterns but also diminishing the overall quality of life in Williams Station.

According to data from the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), train horn noise can reach levels up to 110 decibels - equivalent to a rock concert or chainsaw. Prolonged exposure to such high decibel levels can lead to adverse health effects including sleep disturbances, cardiovascular issues, and impaired cognitive function.

We are calling on local authorities and relevant stakeholders in Madison, Nashville to establish quiet hours for train operations between 10:00pm - 7:00am daily. This will significantly reduce noise pollution and improve living conditions for all residents within Williams Station and surrounding neighborhoods.

Please sign this petition if you believe in bettering our community's quality of life by establishing nighttime quiet hours for train operations.
