Deny day parole to Jeremy Molitor

Deny day parole to Jeremy Molitor
The Issue
A hearing is being set for sometime in November, 2014 to give consideration for day parole for Jeremy Molitor, who is responsible for the brutal murder of Jessica Nethery.
On May 4, 2002, Jeremy Molitor stabbed Jessica 58 times, leaving her in a locked car in Sarnia, where she bled to death, alone. She was 21-years-old.
At the time, Jeremy had been under a restraining order to stay away from Jessica, whom he had previously abused and threatened.
On Dec. 22, 2004, Jeremy Molitor was convicted of second-degree murder, and was sentenced to life in prison, with no chance of parole for 14 years. With credit for time already served, he is eligible to apply for full parole in 2016. However, under the current Canadian justice system, he is currently eligible to apply for day parole.
If granted day parole, Molitor would be released into a community and allowed to live in a halfway house, as early as the first following working day.
The Parole Board of Canada states that protection of the public is paramount in any release decision. We, the undersigned, believe the release of this violent criminal into any community would jeopardize public safety. We also strongly believe that justice has not been served with regards to Jeremy’s jail time. The very thought of freeing this convicted murderer after being sentenced just ten years ago, is appalling and unjust.
The impact of Jessica’s death on her family, friends and surrounding community has been insurmountable, and will have lasting effects for years to come. Jessica was a beautiful young woman with a promising future, who became the innocent victim in this heinous crime. Jeremy Molitor does not deserve to be a free man.
We strongly urge the Parole Board of Canada to deny day parole to Jeremy Molitor at this hearing.
