The Democratic People's Movement (DPM) as a first time participant in the 1st November 2021 Local Government Elections discovered that the ballot counting process was often shrouded in secrecy, this poses a threat to the concept of 'Democracy' and that of 'Free and Fair' Elections in our Country. Many Party Agents were denied the Right to see all Ballot Papers during the Ballot Counting Process which has created Suspicion and cast doubt on the Outcome of the Elections.Various Political Parties across the Metro of Cape Town and across South Africa have complained about similar irregularities.

A CALL FOR PARTY AGENTS TO BE ALLOWED TO VIDEO-RECORD BALLOT COUNTING

The DPM is calling for Transparency during the Ballot Counting of Elections in the form of Party Agents being allowed to VIDEO-RECORD THE COUNTING OF BALLOT PAPERS (VOTES). We Believe that this level of transparency will contribute positively towards our Democracy and that the Concept of FREE & FAIR ELECTIONS will truly find Expression on the ground making way for an open and honest Elections-Outcome that is not clouded by Suspicion and Uncertainty.
