Indefinite Leave to Remain should be a Right of long term married to British Citizens
My husband and I, and many others, have been married for 28 years, we have four daughters all having British Citizenship. He is Turkish and I am English. After 28 years married, two daughters living in England and two daughters living in Turkey, my husband still needs a visa to visit family. The is not right and the law should be changed.
He can, and is, in the process of getting Indefinite Leave to Remain but there are a lot if Rules to comply with, one being having to be in the UK for 180 days of the year. This situation is truly splitting our family up, as well as costing a lot of money.
There should be some exemption from having to do all this, to enable our husbands/wives to be able to travel freely without the need for a visa or the long drawn out process and expense of getting an ILR or citizenship. The process takes at least 5 years and approximately £7,000 as well as numerous english exams and the ‘Life Test’ which even British Citizens can’t pass!!
Please sign this petition. I know we are all fed up of illegal immigrants but what about the red tape around doing this legally
