Legalising Nortons Park Dirt Jumps

The issue

Nortons Park has been well known to the community for its pristine parks, flowing creeks, tree lined walking/riding trails, open space for picnics and sports with an abundance of native flora and fauna since being opened in 1976. Over these years, local riders have also enjoyed Nortons Park and surrounding Dandenong Valley Parklands creating a number of hidden, trail networks and jumps throughout the peaceful bush land.

To date, none of the trails have stood the test of time and have unfortunately been demolished. With growing demand, now more than ever we plead that councils and Parks Victoria work with our local community and avid mountain bikers to legalize these trails. Nortons Park trails have been a meeting place for riders for many years, getting kids off the couch and aiding mental health by simply being outdoors.

These trails are some of the best in the area with no other facilities within a 30km radius, we hope to work with Parks Victoria and local council to STOP THE DESTRUCTION OF TRAILS.

Our riding community is hopeful that the trails can be saved from imminent destruction and we want to work with Parks Vic/councils to maintain the area within set guidelines in hope of enjoying these trails for years to come with a focus on also nourishing native plant life.

These trails cater for all skill levels and have been welcomed by many local walkers who also enjoy the stunning bush tracks. Our riders have enjoyed conversing with walkers who often stop to watch and enjoy a chat.

Please sign the petition to help us get the attention of council and local government members.
