Stop the removal of Lafayette Park old-growth trees.

Stop the removal of Lafayette Park old-growth trees.
The Issue
We are trying to save the older established trees because they pose no visible safety hazard requiring removal. We wish to maintain the natural wood-like aesthetics the trees provide to our community. Removing the trees would negatively effect the atmosphere of the park by destroying the beauty and serenity they contribute, having adverse effects on the wellness of those who rely on the park for calmness and rejuvenation from urban life fatigue.
On the hill, trees tagged #99, 98, 97, 102, and 153 provide the native habitat and breeding grounds for raptors endemic to Lafayette Park. These include our magnificent red-tailed hawks, perregrin falcons, and greater owls. For years these trees have provided the nesting space and rearing ground for the birds' young, and removal of these trees would adversely effect the raptors. They would be displaced and our park will lose its cherished wildlife.
