TERMINATE Tony Barcelona at Berry Miller Junior High in Pearland ISD!!!

The Issue

This letter is being submitted as a show of support for the family of Julez Trice at Berry Miller Junior High School and every other student who has been discriminated against because of a decision to express themselves in a hair cut, hairstyle that has no demeaning affect on the public.

From Yahoo:

A federal civil rights lawsuit was filed on Sunday against a Texas school district and three officials after they took disciplinary action for a student’s haircut, court documents say.

In April 2019, school officials at Pearland Independent School District used a permanent marker to color in the design shaved into a 13-year-old boy’s haircut because they say it did not adhere to the district’s dress code, KHOU reported.

The code states that “hair must be neat, clean and well-groomed. Extreme hair styles such as carvings, mohawks, spikes, etc. are not allowed,” according to the news outlet.

Everyone signing this letter agrees that the current situation Mr. Barcelona chose to be so narrow minded and not consider education FIRST before allowing a student to become the focal point of embarrassment, self defamation, unjustly punished and the liberty that the American flag signifies everyday.   His actions were dishonorable and repulsive to children with african american fades as a statement of their personalities.  If schools would focus more on EDUCATION and not the appearance of non-offensive students then maybe our country would produce more outstanding students instead of children growing up to compete with an insurmountable number of international students that have been given higher preferences when searching for jobs.

This letter is to be seen that actions like Mr. Barcelona's can follow children for the rest of their life.  Mr. Barcelona needs to be held accountable for his actions and we also want justice for the student affected by his actions. Mr Barcelona was in the most dominant position to control the narrative of this event and apparently his teachers and administrators on duty that day did not believe that the parents of Juelz needed to be notified or their permission given for the discipline of a minor, Juelz.   This letter is being written simply to implore Pearland ISD parents, administrators and community to not allow the all to common scene of blatant discrimination occur within their community or even nation wide.   If there is never a consequence for perpetrators actions then we can never move forward with equality and proper education for ALL children indiscriminately!

We believe that all factors should be considered and action taken by the district should be in line with the matter at hand, considering; we also believe that the district owes Juelz and his parents an immediate consequence- a consequence that is designed to reprimand the bullying that was done to Julez by ADULTS.  The signatures that go along with this letter are those all over the world that believe that an injustice has been done to a 13 year old child without the initial notification of a parent.

Lastly, imagine if an adult took disciplinary actions against your child without your knowledge, in front of his peers and laughed about it in the process.  Our children in America have the right to education WITHOUT being bullied by the people who are supposed to instill values and morals to respect others.
