Times are difficult right now, we have heard this statement countlessly over the past year. I do not disagree and I do not wish to downplay Covid-19 or it’s severity. This is a petition for our children. The youth of tomorrow, who deserve the educational experience that we as parents, caregivers, teachers and faculty of schools owe to them! Enough is enough. We have done the time and we have seen the results. These children are not thriving in a virtual only atmosphere. There is a social piece that is completely missing, there is one on one attention from teachers that we just don’t see anymore and it is completely and totally unfair to not let these kids return to school and have some semblance of an early education! Why is there no talk of returning and why are we just supposed to sit in silence and be complacent while our kids suffer. If nothing else, let K-5 return and keep the middle and high schoolers virtual for the time being. These years are critical and our kids are the ones who will suffer the long term consequences of this detrimental time. We can scrape by, or we can stand up for what we believe.
