Parents Demand School Uniform Choice – Wearabouts for Dunraven, Elmgreen & Rosendale
The Issue
We, the parents and carers of students at The Elmgreen School, Dunraven School, and Rosendale Primary School, are outraged by the decision to appoint an online only school uniform supplier — a company with no track record, no price transparency, no website, and no meaningful presence in our community.
This has been done without any consultation with parents, despite the fact that we are the ones paying for the uniforms and dealing with the consequences.
Meanwhile, Wearabouts — a trusted local schoolwear shop that has served our community for years — has been completely shut out of the process. Parents have used and relied on Wearabouts for decades. The store is just minutes away from all three schools, offers in-store fittings, exchanges, financial flexibility, and even online ordering.
This is unacceptable.
This decision:
- Disregards parent voices entirely — not a single parent was asked if they wanted this change.
- Forces families to rely on an online only system with added delivery and return costs, zero flexibility, and no in-person support throughout the year
- Punishes lower income families who cannot afford to buy everything in one go — most parents prefer to buy uniforms gradually, and Wearabouts makes that possible
- Appoints a supplier that is clearly unprepared — there is currently no functioning website, which shows just how disorganised and inexperienced this company is. While they may eventually set one up, how is it acceptable to appoint an online supplier who doesn’t even have a website at the time of appointment?
- Completely ignores the fact that Dunraven School parents have been asking for a local supplier for years.
- Was made even after Helen Hayes MP raised this exact concern with the school.
- We are tired of being ignored. It is clear the Dunraven Educational Trust has no interest in parent preference, convenience, or affordability.
- This is not about improving uniform supply — it is about making a rushed, short sighted decision with zero regard for the people it impacts.
We demand that:
👉 Wearabouts is reinstated as an approved supplier, so that families who prefer a reliable, local, in-store option can continue to use it.
Parents deserve a choice.
We deserve respect.
And we will not be silenced.
