Parental Rights To Be Terminated if Parent is a Convicted Sex Offender in NC
I would like to petition that if someone has Constitutional Parental Rights to their child, yet one/or both parents have been convicted of charges of rape, indecent liberties of a minor, or any violent sexual activity, then the parental rights to their biological child should automatically be terminated for the safety of that child.
We have to protect our children no matter what, even if it is from their own biological parent. We want our children to grow up to be strong and successful individuals. As parents, we should want our children to grow up within a home that is not toxic, violent, or in danger of harming their safety and well being.
It is known that sex offenders are more often than not, second offenders regardless of their “treatment”. If they didn’t sexually abuse their child, nothing is stopping them from doing so if they are in their so-called care.
This change would drastically improve the lives of so many children that are in harm daily due to the justice system not having a law regarding sex offenders and the well being of their biological child.
Example: I have a son, who’s biological father is a convicted felon and who is convicted of Indecent Liberties of a Minor, and the state of NC will not terminate his rights due to him still having “Constitutional Parental Rights”. My son is non verbal and two years old. His life is in danger due to the court system allowing his biological father to have rights and to have visitation with my son.
If you or someone you know has been a victim of sexual abuse, please sign this petition.
If you believe my argument is valid, and you see the safety risk for children in this situation, please sign this petition.
If you believe a child’s life is important, and should always be a first priority, please, please sign this petition.
If you believe that no child should ever be put in harms way regardless of the situation, please sign.
