Release Upcoming Paramount Films (Scream, Jackass Forever) on VOD to Avoid COVID Spread
Aside from a few scattered counties across the U.S., Omicron continues to push COVID cases to all-time highs throughout the country. Movie fans are a dedicated bunch, perhaps none more so than horror fans desperate to show their support for the franchises they love (such as the upcoming Scream film to be released January 14th, 2022). Unfortunately, for many of us who are immunocompromised or simply not willing to expose ourselves to the virus, it will not be possible to pay to see the film in theaters.
That is why we are requesting Paramount Pictures release upcoming films such as Scream and Jackass Forever to VOD in order to allow fans to pay to see these films safely from the comfort of their own homes. This strategy was used by some production companies as early as March 2020 to recoup costs and offer viewers a "Theater at Home" experience, often for twice the price that a theater ticket would cost. And that's okay! We understand why Theater at Home rentals cost as much as they do, and most of us are willing to pay those prices because we want to support the film and the studio behind it. Without the option to do so, however, we will be forced to wait to enjoy these films while the studio loses money from those who gladly would have paid more for a safer option.
Paramount Pictures, don't punish your immunocompromised fans or those who wish to support their favorites safely. Do your part to stop the spread of COVID-19 and give fans a safe and comfortable way to view (and pay for) your upcoming releases!
