During the filming of Friday the 13th Part 2 Warrington Gillette was originally cast as Jason Voorhees for The sequel to the famous slasher movie.  Right as filming started the production realized that Warrington Gillette could not do the stunts the character required and he was replaced by Steve Dash.  Dash performed as “Jason” for every scene except one, “the face” reveal at the end of the movie.

Due to an agent’s contract ploy Warrington Gillette was given credit for playing “Jason” in the film and Dash only received credit as “Jason’s stunt double” even though the entire performance was Steve Dash. 

For many years Gillette went on the convention circuit signing pictures of Steve Dash and passing it off as himself, a bad case of stolen identity.

In 2018 Steve Dash passed away. He was given credit by a majority of the fans for being the “Real Jason” of Part 2, however the studios and powers that be have still not given him frontline credit at the beginning of the film.  That credit still belongs to Warrington Gillette who’s total screen time adds up to less than 30 seconds. 

Many may only think of these movies as low budget slasher films, but there are many fans who see that these are cinematic history.  We implore the movie studio to do the correct thing and give Steve Dash the frontline credit he deserves.
