Stop Construction Drainage Onto our Beaches

The Issue

There currently is a construction project that is occurring behind Grand Panama Beach Resort at 11807 Front Beach Road. The construction project is being conducted by a group named 360 Construction Company. The construction has drained a detention water pond and pumped the sludge water onto the beaches in front of Grand Panama Beach Resort. It has also created an ongoing and constant issue of all construction rainwater and other sludge runoff of being pumped directly onto the beaches. This runoff consists of black, tar-like sludge that is readily apparent much different than the white, powder-like sandy beaches that Panama City Beach is famous for having. This construction sludge is a visible black eye on Panama City Beach. While the toxicity levels of the this sludge is unknown at this time, the physical appearance is that of raw sewage.

We believe that the city of Panama City Beach, the city council and the city manager have a responsibility to this community in order to ensure construction drainage is not dumped or pumped directly onto our pristine beaches and possibly pollute the  delicate ecosystem of our crystal clear beach waters and foul our beaches.

For all who believe that pumping construction sludge onto our pristine beaches and ultimately into our crystal clear Gulf waters, it is time to stand together and demand action from our city council, city manager and the city on order to stop these environmental abuses.
