Time for a Change to the Deadliest Road in Lancaster County

With yet another serious car accident on Saltillo Road, it is time for a change. How many more accidents must there be before we make real changes to ensure this road is safer to drive on? It is time for the county engineer to put time and resources into this deadly road. Reduce the speed limit, widen the road, put decent shoulders along the road, or put one of your famous roundabouts in. Anything is better than nothing.
I am a registered nurse who happened upon the deadly accident on 68th Street back in October. Do you know what it feels like to give CPR to a 13 year old girl on the side of the road? I do and it’s not something I would wish upon anyone. It is something I will carry with me forever.
How many more parents, students and first responders are we going to put through such senseless tragedy? How many more times are we as parents going to have to struggle to answer the questions from our kids when we ourselves don’t have the answers? There are countless high school students who use this road and Saltillo Road to get to school, work, or just everyday travel. We owe it to them and anyone else traveling these roads to make them safer. Please!
I have a daughter who is about to turn 16 and it scares me to death to think she will need to travel along these roads to get to school or to see her friends.
Time’s up. Make a change.
