Paducah Athletic Center Pool Reopen

Paducah Athletic Center Pool Reopen
The Issue
Recently the state decided to shut down a local pool and gem. As everyone knows due to the financial difficulties across the globe many things are not financially doable. That includes having 3 lifeguards at this pool at all times. This pool is a great and safe place for families, swim teams, and even scouts can no longer use this pool. This is the only lap pool in our small town that made this possible.
Taken from local and advid swimmer-Dean Carpenter
"I have been swimming in the lap pool regularly at the Paducah athletic club for over 15 years and yesterday the state of Kentucky closed the pool down with no notice because they said they needed three lifeguards at all times. They even barred the Paducah swim team from practicing even though their coach is a certified lifeguard!
So as of today the PAC pool is closed.
Economically to pay for three lifeguards at all times would be infeasible, and could possibly shut the pool down permanently.
The PAC built the pool depth specifically to get KY state approval originally because Frankfort told them that if they had let less than 6 feet of water they would not need to have lifeguards. That is the reason they built it 5 1/2 feet deep and that is why the state approved than 20 years ago today.
I have called James Comer's office, letting them know of the government overreach in a private business.
If you know of anybody that could help in the situation, please let me know as this pool means so much for our community and me personally as well!"

"This is affecting many of us local swimmers in Paducah, KY and our children’s swimming fun (this is also home to the Paducah Athletic Swim Team, indoor water aerobic classes, indoor winter/summer swim parties, organizational swim test, life guard training classes, and so much more). Please share and help reopen the Paducah Athletic Club Pool. Swimming is a great sport and it’s a beautiful feel to glide at such speeds moving through water. To explain my passion for the sport is near impossible, you have to live and breathe it. It’s also light impact for injury prevention and recovery. Please, let’s get the pool reopened. My kids love swimming there and the staff and owner are so great, they’re like family. I swam the morning of the day they closed and have been calling in hopes to hear the good news of its reopening. Spoke to them today and they’re waiting on state senators approval for reopening. If any of you have any power to assist in the expedition of the reopening by knowledge of law, position, or power please step up and bring joy to your local community.
Pros of the PAC Pool: (member since 2017)
1. Never overcrowded.
2. Great team who listens to the concerns of the customers.
3. Well kept, clean and organized.
4. Friendly, fun environment.
5. 100% sun protection, no need for concern of sun burns or too much sunscreen floating in the water.
6. Great swim lanes 25m length with awesome markings
7. Water temperature pretty descent for self cooling during swim
8. No worries about brain eating amoebae
I’m sure there are more pros but that’s all I can think of right now."
