We're So Close to Our Goal of 200 Signatures! Please Share!

Thank you, all, so much for standing with Pacifica students who believe in the power of experiential learning and that being on campus can be done with safety measures in place. 

As I write this update we are just 12 signatures from our goal of 200! Will you please share this petition with one friend?

Many of us are grieving as we come to terms with the year and a half we have spent in isolation. It is difficult to wrap my mind around what we have lost. I don't need to tell you how challenging it is to integrate and retain material on an online platform nor how draining and impersonal it can feel to sit through lectures online.

While Pacifica had no control over the pandemic (and I am not without empathy for them) we took great pains to find a unique graduate program with a robust sense of community. Maybe, like me, you felt a huge sense of relief when you found Pacifica. Finally a program that fit! From the elation I felt at the beginning of this journey to this moment is quite sad... but this is only the middle of the story (the belly of the whale, perhaps).

I am dissappointed in Pacifica's decision to ignore students requests for more transparency; I am angered by their avoidance to sit down with students and discuss what is really going on behind the scenes; I am frustrated by their lack of respect for the very students who are paying their hard earned wages (or borrowing and thus promising their future wages) to this institution and keep it afloat. And I want to continue to keep it afloat - in person - because I do believe in their overall mission.

Up to this point my language has been mild. I have complied with everything that was expected of me. I put my head down and went about business as usual, attending classes and turning in papers. I did not rock the boat. Well, a new day has dawned and I thank you, each and every one of you, for standing in the sunlight with me.
