Judge Bruce A Roth of Lancaster Pennsylvania violated the eighth amendment by setting excessive bail for suspects of riots. 1 million dollars bail was set for 7 individuals ranging in age from 18 to 43. Considering it is extremely unlikely that all of these suspects have the exact same charges, financial situation, and ability to flee, it is likely that he was using a group punishment to deter further protests and riots. While rioting is bad, and there may be good intentions for doing this, there are no circumstances in which citizens of the United States should not have a right to a fair trial and a bail that is attainable. 

While the bail has since been lowered for all suspects due to public uproar. This situation has shown that judge Roth puts punishment over justice, and is therefore unfit to decide the fate of peoples' lives. Please remove this judge from office before he can ruin more lives.
