The citizens of Haven want ownership of hens on their property. The ownership of poultry will not only help with food costs but will potentially boost the idea of bringing more small business opportunities to Haven. Thus allowing existing business as well to expand their product followed by the value of Living in Haven that much more. Allowing poultry swaps in haven but not allowing the ownership of poultry does not make sense. Surrounding town and cities allow the ownership of poultry. Towns including but not limited to; Yoder, Hutchinson and Mt hope. The ownership of poultry is important for families that enjoy fresh eggs or fresh poultry knowing it's not washed in chlorine before being packaged and sold at big retail stores. 87% of Haven residents own their home; I myself included. Allowing the ownership of poultry to 87% of our community will help families save more money on egg prices and poultry. By gaining the ownership of chickens in our community gives more freedom to the citizens. 

    Benefits of owning chickens will include

1. fresh eggs

4. natural pest control
5. natural fertilizer for plants
6. can be used in compost 
7. proven to be a healthier source of meat than store bought
8. educational for younger generations
9. educational for our High school FFA class
10. hens are quiet and still produce eggs without a rooster 
11. the housing of chickens is not cost effective rather inexpensive
