Overturn the ban on the use of dog fences in Wales
The Issue
On 24th of March 2010 the Welsh Assembly announced a ban on the use of electronic collars on dogs and cats in Wales. In the consultation papers the use of the dog fence had been separated from training collars and anti-bark collars and it was widely believed by those invited to consult that hidden fences would not be included in the ban. For some reason, no reason has been given to date, the dog fence was included in the ban and this has left many users of hidden fence systems in a terrible predicament - lock up your dogs and cats or risk being locked up yourself (incidentally the punishment for using a hidden fence system in Wales is higher than that for those convicted of rape).
Many customers including vets, policeman and dog wardens have come out an expressed their outrage at this ridiculous ban. With the high population of sheep and the difficult and rural terrain it means that dogs risk being shot, lost or chained up.
Please help us remove this ridiculous legislation which will ultimately lead to the destruction or death of both dogs and cats.
