Overturn Decision by FCC to allow 300 houses to be built on Ash Lane Greenbelt area.

The Issue

Daily the road on Ash Lane becomes a hazardous area for all its users during school drop-off and pick-up times. This daily challenge, faced by parents and children alike, is set to become significantly worse with the proposal to build 300 additional houses in this area. As a resident, I am deeply concerned about the decision made by Flintshire County Council to approve Castle Green Homes' application to build these homes on the Ash Lane Greenbelt area.

The decision to build on this greenbelt area not only threatens to exacerbate traffic hazards but also increases the flood potential of the area. The residents of Sandycroft, and Sandycroft Primary School are particularly at risk of flooding.

The Ash Lane agricultural fields are the natural boundary between the villages of Hawarden and Mancot. Building these houses will destroy the historical identities for both villages. Eliminating this green space will have severe consequences for local residents already wary of environmental threats.

Moreover, the addition of 300 new houses will place an incredible strain on essential public services which are already stretched beyond their limits. The demand for GP appointments, NHS dental services, and local school places will surge, negatively impacting the quality of life for all residents. It's crucial to assess whether our current infrastructure can cope with this potential increase, a concern many local residents share.

Greenbelt land is meant to be protected for its environmental and cultural value. By allowing such developments, we risk losing more than just open space; we lose vital aspects of community life and environmental health. Flintshire County Council must reverse its decision, consider the long-term implications for our community, and safeguard our green spaces for future generations.

We urge the decision-makers to listen to the communities of Mancot and Hawarden, and put the needs of the local population at the forefront. Help us stop this development before it's too late. Your signature can make a difference. Please join us in appealing the decision by Flintshire County Council's decision to vote in favour if this plan, and help to protect our greenbelt and community wellbeing.
