Over 15 years ago, I was a child victim of neglect and abuse under the very eyes of the Child Protective Services (CPS) system – the very system built to protect children like me. Today, sadly, history repeats itself with my own sister suffering from the same neglect within the same flawed system. Our story is sadly not unique. The U.S Department of Health & Human Services reported nearly 678,000 victims of child abuse and neglect in 2018 alone [1]. This alarming statistic highlights the urgent need for a thorough reappraisal of the way abuse cases are handled, and to hold abusers accountable, no matter who they may be.

Our plea is straightforward: Reassess the way child neglect and abuse cases are handled by CPS. Implement stricter policies and measurements that prevent manipulative individuals from playing the system. Most importantly, let's ensure no child ever becomes part of these horrifying statistics again.
