Our Time Is Running Out: Let's UNIFY to SAVE the EARTH

The Issue

According to activesustainability.com. Over the last 26 years, the percentage of global carbon dioxide emissions has increased by almost 50%, and in the decade from 2000 to 2010 they increased more than in the three previous decades. Carbon Dioxide is one of the gases that are responsible for air pollution putting citizens' health at risk and is one of the major causes of global warming and climate change.

CONSEQUENCES OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND GLOBAL WARMING

We must be all aware that these past few years, we are experiencing an incredible rise in temperature here in the Philippines which is incredibly hot! We also experience high magnitude earthquakes and a series of typhoons. There has also been a report that the whole of Japan was almost flooded because of Typhoon Hagibis this recent October 4, 2019, to October 20, 2019.

We also received news on the Amazon Rainforest which produces 20% Oxygen of in the whole world was on fire.

According to CNN, "Most large fires in the Amazon are started by humans on recently cleared land. And deforestation for logging, mining, and farming fragments the forest, experts say, making it more susceptible to catching fire on its edges. Burnt areas near Moraes Almeida in Brazil's Pará state are shown in September 2019."

ANIMALS AFFECTED BY THIS CHANGE

An increase in temperature due to global warming it’s not only about a heat increase that can be felt by humans or glacial ice melting it also has the potential to affect the planet’s entire ecosystem.

According to Linda Givetash, Polar bears could disappear by 2100 due to melting ice, and climate change, study says. Polar bears have long been the poster child of the consequences of climate change. A new study now suggests the Arctic species is at risk of being starved into extinction by the end of the century.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

At this point we can't stop the rapid melting of ice, it will take years for it to recover. The recent fire spread in Amazon Rainforest, and the increase of Carbon Dioxide on the Earth However, our time is running out. If we start to lessen the production of carbon dioxide and do small things to help nature.

Climate scientists are also getting desperate: “We’re crying, begging, and getting arrested”, Peter Kalmus

“Climate activists are sometimes depicted as dangerous radicals, but the truly dangerous radicals are the countries that are increasing the production of fossil fuels.” – United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres

"Earth breakdown is much worse than most people realize. The science indicates that as fossil fuels continue to heat our planet, everything we love is at risk. For me, one of the most horrific aspects of all this is the juxtaposition of present-day and near-future climate disasters with the “business as usual” occurring all around me. It’s so surreal that I often find myself reviewing the science to make sure it’s really happening, a sort of scientific nightmare arm-pinch. Yes, it’s really happening.

If everyone could see what I see coming, society would switch into climate emergency mode and end fossil fuels in just a few years."

"Nothing has worked. It’s now the eleventh hour and I feel terrified for my kids and terrified for humanity. I feel deep grief over the loss of forests and corals and diminishing biodiversity. But I’ll keep fighting as hard as I can for this Earth, no matter how bad it gets, because it can always get worse. And it will continue to get worse until we end the fossil fuel industry and the exponential quest for ever more profit at the expense of everything else. There is no way to fool physics."

It is truly devastating that why these people were getting arrested when they only care for the earth's condition and for the future generation? We all need to wake up! We need to think about our Next Generation's Future! What we are currently experiencing will worsen even more in the future! There are numerous reports based on scientific research that talk about the long-term impacts of climate change such as rising levels of greenhouse gases, temperatures, and sea levels by the year 2100.

The recently published United Nations assessment of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) warns that current promises from governments set us up for a very dangerous 2.7 degrees Celsius warming by 2100: this means unprecedented fires, storms, droughts, floods and heat, and profound land and aquatic ecosystem change.

Aren’t you concerned? The Earth’s Future, Your Children’s Future? Be alarmed about the changes in our environment. What we're currently experiencing will be even worse in the future which will lead to the Earth's extinction. We're running out of time, we need to make a move; we need to unify and work together in order to save the Earth instead of looking for a different Planet to live in.
