The Issue

Keep Canadian Shelves Canadian: Permanently Ban American Alcohol Imports to Protect Domestic Producers and National Sovereignty

To the Premiers of Canada, Provincial Liquor Boards, and the Federal Minister of Trade:

WHEREAS:
Canadian industries and workers have repeatedly faced aggressive, unjustified trade measures, tariffs, and economic pressures from the United States.

Provincial liquor boards control a vital retail network that should prioritize Canadian economic interests, local vineyards, craft breweries, and distilleries rather than acting as a market of convenience for foreign competitors.

Existing moratoriums and bans on American alcohol imports have proven that Canadian consumers are overwhelmingly supportive of local alternatives, and that domestic producers are more than capable of supplying the market; and

True economic independence begins by supporting home-grown businesses and refusing to use our retail spaces as leverage or surrender chips in foreign trade negotiations.

THEREFORE, We the undersigned citizens of Canada call upon our Provincial Governments and Territorial Liquor Authorities to:

1. Permanently codify the removal of American wine, beer, and spirits from all public liquor store shelves and distribution networks, ensuring they do not return regardless of shifting foreign trade pressures.

2. Reallocate permanent shelf space and marketing support to Canadian craft brewers, local wineries, and regional distilleries to strengthen the domestic economy and secure supply chain independence.

3. Stand firm against external lobbying and reject any trade concessions that use Canadian retail access as a bargaining tool to undermine local producers.
