Bringing back my best friends Josh Hernandez and Conner Troxel to Newbury Park High School
Bringing back my best friends Josh Hernandez and Conner Troxel to Newbury Park High School
The Issue
My name is Tegvir, and I’m starting this petition to attempt and hope that my best friends can comeback to school. My friends Conner Troxel and Josh Hernandez were together, and had accidentally gotten themselves in a situation that has ended, insanely wrong and bad. Josh found a BB gun and held it asking, “what is this?”, and Conner Troxel had taken a picture of him holding it, without consent of Josh, and posted it on a private story on Snapchat. The caption was “Do not come to school tomorrow.” Obviously, this got reported to the authorities, but the thing is, tomorrow was a Saturday. This happened Friday afternoon. Clearly, this was a school shooting joke, a very bad joke that had an unexpected ending. These types of jokes are commonly made by other students. Why are these students not accountable for making these jokes? Why are they not being reported? Why is it just Conner and Josh being penalized for an action others commonly do and say? They received the consequence of being expelled from our school. They have clean school records, and are athletes, and participate in school sports. They would have no intentions to harm any of us and the school. I believe this punishment is not justified. The most both of my best friends received should be a suspension at most. Everyone, including me, really want them back in school. It was a bad decision, we are young and are learning. They should not be home all day and not being able to learn. They have the right to learn just like us. They understand what they did, and have learned from it. Please sign this petition in hopes that we can bring them back. It would mean a lot. I hope the school boards will reconsider the actions that have been made.
