Every day in Mauritius, pets are being deliberately poisoned by people who know exactly what they are doing.

Dogs and cats are found convulsing and dying and in most cases nothing happens. No investigation, No accountability, No justice. This is not just animal cruelty, it is a failure of enforcement and a gap in how seriously these acts are treated.

Today, in Mauritius, someone can poison a pet and face little to no real consequence.

Two Owned Cats were Killed, Murdered in Cold Blood by Deliberate Poisoning at La Cavernes, Vacoas.

The Suspect identified with proof on video and zero action. The autopsies are still not done. Police and Animal Welfare Unit are not neither proactive nor reactive.

We are calling on the authorities in Mauritius to take immediate action:

• Regard intentional animal poisoning as a serious criminal offense
• Enforce strict penalties, including fines and imprisonment 
• Establish clear procedures for reporting and investigating these cases
• Strengthen enforcement of existing animal welfare laws

Pets are not objects. They are living beings capable of fear, pain, and love.
They are part of our families but they are not being protected.

Whenever we visit Animal Adoption groups on social media in Mauritius, every day there is one case of Cat or Dog Dead by deliberate poisoning.
We cannot normalize this. We cannot ignore this. We cannot accept a system where cruelty goes unpunished.
