The Ottawa river is being pushed down a path of pollution and dangerous water quality. The Covid-19 pandemic is fueling outdoor gatherings and large amounts of local pollutants. Masks, gloves, bottles, and more are being swept into the river and thrown on the coast. Fish will start to absorb this plastic, water at areas like Petrie Island will become unswimmable for both humans and pets, and even the many animals that rely on the river will fall ill. All while the city has done nothing to act to stop this, let alone clean the river. 

Our organization Revive The River wants the city to work with local organizations, clean-up crews, and the environmentalist community of Ottawa to ensure the river can return to a healthy state. By signing this petition you are not only showing your support for your community but also working to protect the body of water that has been a centerpiece of Ottawa for decades. Once the signature goal of 100 signatures is reached, my organization will bring this to the city council and propose our plans.
