Tennoji zoo in Osaka, Japan was first opened in 1915 and the facilities have not been much improved since that time. We need to act now and improve the zoo and it's enclosures as many exhibited animals already display signs of severe distress brought on by boredom and living in such small, poor conditions. Day in, day out. 

Act now and demand Osaka City pour more, much needed investement into the Zoo21 program and into the zoo! 

I started this petition after reading many reviews of the place and after people I know personally told me of visiting Tennoji zoo, all of them finding the experience of visiting it pyhsically upsetting (many to the point of tears) due to many of the animals, particularly the large ones, showing signs of suffering from 'Zoochosis' from being kept in such poor/cramped conditions.

Furthermore, entry to the Zoo is just 500¥ - approx $5 or £3.

Is such an amount from each customer enough to sustain a hight standard of care for the animals and facilities? Of course not. 

Many reviews from tourist sites like 'Trip advisor' note that the place as a 'prison' and 'torture chamber' for the animals - surely that is not what a business mainly attracting tourists wants the visitors to be leaving with? Upsetting memories of animals deeply affected by Zoochosis, also many living in squalid conditions.

My aim with this petition is to have Osaka City step up on the Zoo21 programme by consulting animal specialists and implimanting much needed improvements of their enclosures, keeping animals engaged in activities, honoring breeding programmes or pairing up animals that are alone, ensuring a quality of life for all Tennoji zoo's animals.
