The current and sole Orange County Animal Shelter is 75 years old AND currently contracts to serve over 2 million people. It  deteriorated to a point where the Orange County Grand Jury issued 5 scathing reports against the shelter due to poor management, underfunding, understaffing.. During this time, a committee of assistant City Managers which supposedly represented the cities/TAXPAYERS which contract with the county, referred to as the FOAB, met monthly on site at the county animal shelter WITH County officials but never revealed or conveyed the conditions to taxpayers. Animals have been suffering and euthanized for unacceptable reasons and shelter violations of Hayden Act. A new shelter is purported to be built, however, we do not want these conditions to ever happen again. WE ARE REQUESTING THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO ALLOW CITIZENS TO SIT IN ON FOAB COMMITTEE MEETINGS TO ACT AS A CITIZEN OVERSIGHT GROUP and improve transparency BEGINNING NOW.
